If I had to give Concept Artists only ONE TIP do get a Job in the Industry, after almost 8 years working in it : When everyone on Artstation does one thing, do the opposite. When everyone focuses on "Keyframe Design" and Splash Art, do callout sheets and props. When everyone buys a 4090 to get render their flashy pictures faster, show your sketches and research When everyone copies the artist who copies the artist who copies the old master, go find your inspiration in grounded and niche real life subjects. When everyone gets distracted by the latest stupid trend like "New gimmick feature in this 3D Software" or "Keyframe Design tutorial by your Favorite Trendy Artist", go develop real design skills and fundamentals instead. Think for 2 minutes : NOBODY ever stood out by doing like everyone else. Actually, it's the opposite. Artists who get jobs and become massive are those who break the codes, who dare to offer something different. The Industry doesn't beg for and other bootleg version of One Pixel Brush or ILM, but genuine designers who bring their own tastes while understanding what is required in production. F$ck dogmas Just show that you understand every step of the design process Do not just show polished pictures Then do subjects that you enjoy. Be different than all these clones of clones of clones. When everyone turns left, turn right. And it you are curious, smart and ambitious, here is the framework to Craft a Portfolio that perfectly marches the needs of the Industry. It's 100% free, no email required. https://lnkd.in/d27ebEEb

Been working on this open-world mobile game for a while now and this is the first time I'm sharing a proper look at it. The video walks through the environment and the tools behind it: Day/night cycle with Enviro, full dynamic lighting and atmosphere. Volumetric fog that shifts with the time of day. MicroSplat terrain blending so objects actually sit into the ground instead of floating on top. Terrain layers with proper material transitions. Trax footstep system, walk through snow and it shows. Tessellation for surface detail up close. All real-time in Unity URP. The challenge with open-world on mobile is always the same — making it look like this while keeping it playable. #EnvironmentArt #Unity3D #OpenWorld #MobileGameDev #TechnicalArt #UnityURP #Lighting #MobileGames #WorldBuilding

#GameDesign isn’t just always building, it’s also observing, breaking down, and learning from other great games. This week, we broke down #ChameleonRun on our #YouTube channel, a masterclass in simple mechanics with surprising depth. Credit: Mokshith C Ullal Here are some #DesignNotes from our breakdown: 1. Colour-switching mechanic: Core rule that drives gameplay, simple to learn, hard to master. 2. Jump variations: Normal, double, drop, and long jumps create layered decision-making. 3. Obstacles & power-ups: Black tiles (fail state), bolts (dash), fans (environmental), slow-time, rotating platforms → maintain freshness. 4. Level design: Difficulty scales through mechanics, teaches by play, not text. 5. Replay value: Dual goals (coins vs. gems) encourage mastery and multiple playstyles Watch the full breakdown here: https://lnkd.in/gBkgy7Uj Subscribe our YouTube channel: https://lnkd.in/gAuQYNX7 #GameDevelopment #IndieDev #GameBreakdown #GameMechanics #LevelDesign #SystemDesign #GamedevJourney #YouTubeGaming

Nodevember Day 8 — Bejewelled: Procedural Ice-Cream with Gems in Blender 🍦💎 Today’s Nodevember prompt was “Bejewelled”, and I wanted to push the idea in a fun, playful direction. So instead of going literal with gemstones, I decided to eat them. 😄 For Day 8, I created a procedural ice-cream shader topped with colorful gem-like candy pieces, entirely inside Blender’s Shader Editor. No external textures — everything generated from nodes. What I Explored 🔹 Building stylized surface details using noise, voronoi, and layered color ramps 🔹 Creating candy-like gem shapes procedurally 🔹 Using math/vector nodes to control placement and breakup 🔹 Designing a shader that stays flexible so I can change colors, patterns, and variations instantly 🔹 Keeping everything non-destructive and animation-friendly What You’ll See in the Timelapse A full breakdown of the node workflow — from the base ice-cream look, to adding swirls, roughness variation, and finally scattering the jewel-candy toppings. It’s a great showcase of how powerful procedural texturing can be when you want quick iterations and endless possibilities. Why I Love Nodevember Challenges like these push me to experiment, think differently, and explore shaders beyond usual workflows. Each prompt becomes a small playground for ideas — and Day 8 was especially fun. If you're into procedural materials, stylized shading, or Blender in general, I hope you enjoy the timelapse! #Nodevember #nodevember2025 #b3d #Blender3D #ProceduralArt #ShaderNodes #CGI #MaterialCreation #3DArt #houdini #BlenderCommunity

Activity Walk Cycle Animation | Autodesk Maya Exploring character performance through an activity-based walk cycle. This shot focuses on a natural walking motion combined with a secondary action — interacting with a phone. The goal was to maintain believable weight, balance, and timing while ensuring the upper body action complements the walk without breaking the flow. Special attention was given to: • Body mechanics and posture while distracted • Subtle head and eye direction for realism • Hand interaction and timing with the phone • Maintaining consistency across multiple camera views Creating layered actions like this helps push animation closer to real-life behavior. Open to feedback and suggestions! #Animation #3DAnimation #WalkCycle #CharacterAnimation #BodyMechanics #Animator #CGI #AnimationStudent #PerformanceAnimation #ActingInAnimation #Autodesk #3dsMax #GameAnimation #AnimationPractice #StudentWork Here’s the link of Female Walk Cycle : https://lnkd.in/gBxaEZ5D

🎨 Day 9 of Learning Three.js – Perlin Noise + FBM + Shader Texturing 🚀 Today was all about procedural generation & advanced texturing! Here’s what I learned: • 🔹 Perlin Noise – A gradient noise algorithm that produces smooth, natural-looking randomness. 📍 Use case: Wavy surfaces, fire, clouds, organic patterns. • 🔹 FBM (Fractal Brownian Motion) – Combines multiple layers (octaves) of noise at different scales and amplitudes. 📍 Use case: Creating more detailed & realistic textures like dirt, marble, terrain. • 🔹 Applying Textures in Shaders – Used a fabric texture, mapped it to my geometry, and then: • ✅ Distorted it with Perlin noise • ✅ Added procedural "dirt" patterns using FBM • ✅ Result → A grungy, worn-out fabric effect 🔥 🧑💻 Key Learnings: • Noise can be manipulated to create motion by adding time → noise(uv + time) • FBM adds depth & realism compared to single-layer noise • Mixing procedural effects with image textures = unlimited creativity 🎯 Result: A dynamic fabric that looks old & dirty, but was created procedurally! It’s fascinating to see how shaders can bring flat textures to life. Would you like me to share the GLSL code snippet of this dirty fabric effect in a carousel post so you can try it yourself? #ThreeJS #Shaders #GLSL #ReactThreeFiber #WebGL #ProceduralGeneration #CreativeCoding

Tips from Voidart Academy 🧵 Cloth Sculpting in ZBrush — Quick Artist Brief Sculpting cloth in ZBrush is all about understanding gravity, structure, and how fabric behaves under pressure. Before touching any brush, imagine the cloth like a living surface—reacting, stretching, compressing, and folding depending on the body underneath. 🪂 Cloth Gravity Gravity pulls cloth downward, creating natural tension lines. The stronger the pull, the straighter the folds. Lighter fabrics = more wavy folds. Heavier fabrics = deeper, sharper folds. 🏗️ Underlying Structure Cloth takes shape based on what it sits on—bones, muscles, props, or forms. Always block out the body silhouette first, because the fabric will wrap around these volumes. ✋ Pinch Points (Tension Centers) Pinch points are where the fabric is held, pulled, or anchored, such as: Shoulder seams Elbow bends Waist belts Grips in hands Folds radiate outward from these points, forming natural tension patterns. 🪢 Types of Cloth Folds Understanding fold types helps sculpt believable fabric: Pipe Folds – cylindrical rolls caused by gravity. Zig-Zag Folds – sharp alternating angles from compression. Drop Folds – hanging vertical folds from a single suspension point. Spiral Folds – twisting fabric, often seen in sleeves. Tension Folds – straight lines from stretched fabric. 🧠 Cloth Anatomy Think of cloth in two actions: Tension areas (stretched, straight, smooth) Compression areas (crowded folds, wrinkles) Balancing these creates realism. ⚖️ Pressure on Cloth Where pressure increases, folds get tighter and denser—like at the elbows, waist, under straps, or where the fabric is compressed between surfaces. 🖌️ ZBrush Brush Flow Diagram [Move Brush] → Block big cloth shapes+ Accucurve ↓ [Standard / ClayBuildUp] → Build primary fold direction ↓ [DamStandard] → Cut deep, sharp fold lines ↓ [Pinch] → Tighten and refine fold edges ↓ [Inflate] → Add fabric thickness and puff ↓ [Smooth (Low Intensity)] → Natural blending & soft transitions Use ClothMove, ClothNudge, and ClothPinch (Dynamics) for even more realistic simulations. Use ClothMove, ClothNudge, and ClothPinch (Dynamics) for even more realistic simulations. #ZBrush #ZBrushSculpt #ClothSculpting #3DArt #DigitalSculpting #ZBrushTutorial #3DModeling #CharacterArt #GameArt #3DArtist #DigitalArtTips #SculptingWorkflow #ZBrushCloth #CGArtist #3DDesign

Day 5: Working in 3D space Created a 3D grid animation with image reveal using After Effects' 3D layer system. Techniques applied: → Grid effect with 3D layer transformation (90° Y-axis rotation) → Null object rigging for centralized rotation control → Scale animation with easing (image reveal 0-100%) → Noise and Gaussian blur for visual depth → Loop expressions (cycle and pingpong) for seamless repetition → Text animation integrated with 3D scene Learning to work in 3D space opens up complex motion graphics possibilities—parallax effects, camera movements, and multi-layer depth that makes flat designs come alive. Also completed Behance portfolio setup today—all projects organized and live with professional descriptions. 25 days to go. #AfterEffects #3DAnimation #MotionGraphics #NullObjects #LoopExpressions #VideoEditing #PortfolioBuilding

In Animator, life begins with a single moving dot — the simplest signal of existence. In the live performance, that dot gains personality, leaving traces and interacting with others, revealing how even the smallest motion can spark connection. In Animator – The Tool, the roles shift, and you become the creator. In VR, you guide the dots yourself, shaping their movements, collisions, and dances. It’s a reminder that life is motion — and as long as you breathe, you’re part of the animation. The Animator has been created for VAH by Springplay Studio / Eero Tiainen & Maciej Tomaszewski. This video was generated with AI using a detail from Animator as a reference image. Bulb Bot – Blender Project Created the animated Bulb Bot character and explored a wide range of Blender features in this project. Modeled and animated a robot with a bulb head and mechanical body. Practiced object and character animation basics. Applied physics—experimented with collisions and breaking effects. Used cell fracture to shatter the bulb as part of the story. Worked with texturing and tiling for clean, consistent surfaces. Utilized modifiers like array and mirror for efficient modeling. Adjusted light intensity using keyframes to match the scene’s mood. Tried different camera angles and settings for dynamic shots. #Blender3D #Animation #Physics #CellFracture #Texturing #Modifiers #Lighting #CGI #3DModeling #DigitalArt

Future Material Artists • 6K followers
💥 Creating material art is challenging for many Game Art Students.💥 But there are 4 rules that helped me! And I have been following since I started. Let me show you: 🚀 Your learning comes from the depth of your projects. Not the amount of them. 🚀Your Textures final result is in your render, not in Substance Designer. 🚀90% of your work is how you present your material, not how you make it. 🚀Projects that feel impossible cause more impact than production ones. Now here's a hidden 5th rule... Learning is easier with others who share the same goal. Being surrounded by artists who share the same passion will always push you to the goal you all share, and they will support you because they share your struggle. That is why I created Future Material Artists. A free Discord Community for those who want to master Material Art! 📍 And you can join us here: https://lnkd.in/d9bKMM-f #3d #vfx #texturing #TextureArtist #3dtexturing #digitalartist #substance3ddesigner #3dartist #gameartist #gameart #adobe
